Creating a New Sense of Neighborhood
Announcing the official launch of Urban Verde, a non-profit organization, which is dedicated to the cleanup of abandoned, contaminated property in urban areas. Laura Brinkerhoff, who founded Urban Verde, is a Licensed Site Remediation Professional and Professional Geologist. She started Brinkerhoff Environmental Services, Inc. in 1989 which recently joined forces with VHB Engineering.
Urban Verde will consider submissions from local communities to test and remediate contaminated property for redevelopment into housing, job-creating businesses, parks and open space and Smart Street Learning Centers.
Urban Verde will be funded by state and federal grant programs, charitable foundations and personal philanthropy of citizens concerned with preserving the environment and fostering Environmental Justice.
